What is a Pneumatic Cartridge loader:
The Pneumatic Cartridge loader is a rugged built mechanical device designed to propel explosive cartridges (water gels and emulsions) into the borehole. Loading cartridges in this manner leads to higher loading density which allows for expanded drill patterns and higher productivity (faster loading then manually hand tamping individual cartridges). The average cartridge loading rate is 1 cartridge per second.
Built entirely of aluminum, stainless steel and brass the loader is non-sparking and corrosion resistant to withstand harshest of mining environments and permit safe trouble free operation. Holes up to 100 meters long in any orientation (down, up or horizontal) can be loaded quickly and safely.
All loader parts are now machined using computerized machining process which give our product the repeatable tolerances needed for reliability and performance.
Description of Operation:
By default air is directed through the lower half of the loader and into the semi-conductive loading hose.
An operator drops a cartridge into the breech of the loader. As the cartridge slides down the barrel of the loader it compresses a trigger. When the trigger is compressed air flow is momentarily rerouted to the top of the loader. This causes the sealing flaps to open / close respectively.
When the cartridge clears the trigger air is rerouted down the lower half of the loader body thus propelling the cartridge down the semi-conductive loading hose. This hole process occurs in a matter of milliseconds.
Models and Specifications
The CB32R and CB42R are the standard models of the cartridge loader manufactured by Can-Blast. All pneumatic cartridge loaders come with a wooden carying case, aluminum tripod, operation / maintenance manual and lubrication for servicing.

The CB32RM2 model cartridge loader was created due to high demand from our customers for a smaller and faster loader. This model is the fastest cartridge loader that we manufacture but has a limitation on the cartridge length due to the shortend loader body.

Requirements
- Minimum air supply of 90 P.S.I. (620kPa) at 70 c.f.m. (0.04m3/s) to the cartridge loaders regulator.
- Minimum of 100ft (30m) of semi-conductive (anti-static) loading hose attached to the cartridge loader body.
- A water supply to spray the cartridges and lubricate the loading hose.
- Cartridges of appropriate length for the model of cartridge loader being used. See the model specifications below for more infomation.
- Cartridges of appropriate diameter for the semi-conductive (anti-static) loading hose being use and that are within the recommend bore hole diameter for that size of cartridge.
